Default Canoe sends clear message to Royal Navy

Got bored after patrolling my assigned grid and not finding anything and went snooping around North of Scapa Flow. After a day of sailing around, I was in AN11 when my WO shouted "Warship spotted!" I went to the bridge and saw a Destroyer on the horizon sailing towards me so I dive to periscope depth and go silent. My hydrophone operator called out multiple warships in the general direction of the destroyer. A few minutes later my eyes were fixed on the scope in disbelief. In front of my canoe is HMS Hood and a Revenge Class Battleship!

I only have 3 torpedoes without reloading, which might sink one of them, but I really wanted to sink both. If I wait for the tubes to be reloaded, the ships might be able to sail away from me with damage. For some odd reason I thought "titanic." I wonder, if I aim forward of the front turret and punch a hole in the hull at the bow, if that would cause the ships to drive themselves under the surface?

After planning out the attack, I decide to fire 2 eels at HMS Hood and 1 at the Revenge. When the moment comes, I empty all 3 tubes and wait. 1 Torpedo hits HMS Hood in just in front of the first turret, same for HMS Royal Oak. The other torpedo, intended for HMS Hood didn't detonate. The HMS Royal Oak quickly became DIW and sank soon after. However the HMS Hood was crippled, but still sailing at snails pace. I reloaded the tubes, moved into a firing position, and fired one aimed at midships, between the stacks. That stops the vessel in her tracks. She quickly sank afterwards.

Just under 80,000t scored in a canoe! Now that's a successful patrol. The Royal Navy better be keeping an eye on me:rotfl:

Congratulation Herr Oberleutnant!!!

And what was it the BdU worth?
Promotion?
Knights Cross?

Or isn´t it worth to risk live, crew and Boot?

Excellent work, Siegmann! After a couple of drinks you may become more agressive. I'll have a cognac, than you.

Royal Oak sunk with just one torpedo, Hood was crippled after 1 as well but was moving at about 2kts. I put every free man into the reloading of the torpedoes, which at best is like you said, 8 minutes. 1 more made the Hood DIW, then it sank. Total expense of 4 torpedoes (1 intended for the Hood was a dud). It's quite manageable. I was worried the Hood was going to sail away from me, but it kept slowing down to 2kts and zigzaging, which made it possible to catch it relatively quick. Escorts couldn't find me in the rough seas, which was an added bonus.

EDIT: I was very skeptical of sinking any of them, I'm sure they packed a lot of armor where it would be ideal for a torpedo to strike, and with only 3 tubes, that's why I made as radical of a choice as I did. I wanted to impact just in front of the turrets, as I'm pretty sure the armor didn't extend that far and I just might be able to inflict significant flooding by doing that. Apparently it worked! maybe something to keep in mind next time any of you guys come across a BB and are low on torpedoes, or in a Canoe?

I fired at the Hood first, 800m away, then the Royal Oak when it was 800m away just as it changed it's course and zigged towards me.
