After a successful 1st patrol in which I sank 5 merchants and a corvette, I set out on my second patrol in the U-352 a type IXb. Just northwest of the Irish coast I came upon a large convoy. Set up a intercept course and went to flank. Pulled ahead of them and took a look threw the periscope. OMG the Nelson!!!! I get set up to fire when escorts sight me. A little cat and mouse later and I send a Flower class to Davey Jones locker with a stern shot down the throat. But now the Nelson is getting away, my only hope is a off angle shot from 1800 meters. Fired 4 fish............WHAM, WHAM, WHAM!!!!! Three solid hits up front. She's on fire from her bow to A turrent...... The escorts jump on me. I lose them just long enough to reload my tubes, close the range and let loose 3 more fish. Three more solid hits from 600 meters. I go deep, and a couple minutes later the Nelson is no more!!!! Went to silent running and evaded south.........God love GWX and SH3 Commander.

It wasn't a Battleship but I just missed out on a juicy Fleet Carrier. One of those lucky flukes to pick them up since I was still under water after carrying out an aborted attack on an Argentinian merchant. All of a sudden the hydrophone operator picked up long range warships heading my way. There were so many I knew it was a task force and they were heading my way. I identified 2 light cruisers and the carrier closing at 22 knots. Their course was so close I merely had to turn the sub to get a good AoB. I sat back, scope down, engines cut just waiting. When the task force was approx 2000m away I noticed the bearings were changing. A quick up scope and they were now on a course that would take them behind me. Given their speed there was no way I could turn 150 degrees and set up a new solution. Besides I wasn't entirely sure I hadn't been spotted by my tower breaking the surface in the choppy seas so deciding discretion I turned up the speed and dived. Monitored the course as I went down but it had steadied on the new bearing.
A course change about 30 seconds before a 4 torpedo salvo Ain't life but a bitch ![]()
