Default And this is why you shouldn't drink!

The last thing I remember in my ongoing career was being at 160 metres and running quietly away from a posse of escorts who had taken exception at me exploding their ships. 3 attacks and 3 large merchants sent to the bottom for an expenditure of 7 eels. I was feeling quite pleased with myself and the escorts were depth charging an unfortunate shoal of fish about 2000 metres away.

Time was catching up on me however since I was going out to watch the rugby internationals with the lads from work. Not wanting to save underwater and in proximity to ships I decided to pause the game and minimise the screen. Off I went and, remembering the advise passed on from my Mother all those years ago, decided to have one or two sociable drinks and not make a fool of myself.

Hence I was quite surprised to wake up this morning with a sore head, a complete memory blackout starting at 8pm and every light in the house turned on.

I was very surprised to find the TV turned on full blast and my mate sleeping on my sofa.

I was absolutely stunned to find my computer monitor turned on and the SH3 nav map on the screen. The game was paused but we were no longer creeping along at 2 knots and 160m down. Oh no! We were at flank speed passing through 30m with bits missing off the boat and the hydrophone operator screaming that we were being pinged. I put the damage control team to work and brought the boat down to 190 metres and spent half an hour evading 3 escorts before they left the scene.

Scrolling through the command bar I discovered that the sequence of events went something like this.

0630 depth 160, speed 2 knots
0631 Ahead flank
0632 Surface the boat
0648 Ship spotted
0648 We are under attack!
0650 Ahead flank
0652 Dive

What I especially like is the fact that it apparently took me 4 mins from being shot at to my order to dive.

My mother was right. Alcohol is naughty

Those are the experiences that are best left forgotten.

You should wear a tea cozy when drinking. It prevents cooling of the brain. :rotfl: :rotfl:

:rotfl:

That's one of the problems with drinking. No, you shouldn't drink and drive and all that, but since alcohol impairs the judgement the first thing the drinker says to himself is "I'm not THAT drunk!":rotfl:

Fogh, you were not the only one having a few wee drams. I did some couch sleeping last night at a friend's house. Got up in the middle of the night, went to the bathroom. The door knob was tricky and wouldn't let me out .

There's obviously a conspiracy afoot.

Many many moons ago I was on the couch at a mates....got up to answer a call of nature and walked straight in on his wife sitting on the lav.

He forgot to warn her that he'd be late and I'd be coming back for the night

She was pretty cool as well

Back in 'college days', with a case of 'disorientation' caused by too much 'taste testing', had a gentleman who was sleeping on the couch/floor, got up, went to bathroom, back to room, and crawled in bed. Only problem was that it was not his room and not his bed. The FUNNY part about it is the wife, feeling sandwiched about this time, got up and went and slept on the couch. You can imagine what happened when the men woke up in the afternoon with their hang-overs.
