Default Ooops! Lets brush that one under the carpet.

I guess I need to concentrate a little more with GWX 2. I got the opportunity to do my first real patrol since resurrecting my pc and I've noticed one or two slight differences. Started the career in sep 1940 based out of St Nazaire. Patrol area assigned in DH54. First of all I got spotted by a merchant at 4500m in crap weather running with decks awash. No way he could have seen me that fast. I had literally seen his masts (and I mean literally since I was waiting for him to appear) when he opened fire... and hit me with his first round!! Damaged the hull and both periscopes. WTF!!

I limped away and decided to continue with my patrol after making repairs and cursing my luck. Then lo and behold while doing a hydrophone check off the azores in a storm I picked up a merchie short range, medium speed. Up scope and saw a blacked out small merchant about 1000m of my port side, guestimated a speed of 9 knots and fire. Big bang that lit up the storm. Unfortunately it also lit up the Rising Sun flag fluttering from the mast I think I may be in trouble

All the flags look the same to me at night. I just go by "If they aren't lit up... they're gonna get pegged !"

Well to my credit I did refrain from sinking the 2 Argentinians who passed my bow the next day (although I did have a perfect 90 AoB solution ) I had never seen a Japanese ship in GWX before and therefore none of what happened was my fault. Its all in my report

What report? You weren't there, you didn't do it and they can't prove anything. It's not like they can identify the torpedo.

It must have been a British sub.

No lights at night I sink them. If I get close trying to see what nation they are and they light me up with search lights I sink them. If the are neutral I figure that I did them a favor by getting rid of one stupid Captain.

bah, never run from merchants, if you do, thats just poor captainship. just to 20 m and you cant be hit, make your repairs, then reposition yourself, blow ballasts and then flank speed into his midships from 90AOB, fire your eel at roughly 1000m and youll blow that baby to peices.

armed merchants are overexaggerated in their danger. if they know your there you just gotta get close to blow it up... or duke it out in a gun duel, which is highly notrecommended, unless you know how to out manouver it, and zigzagwell

Im a one U-boat wolfpack. Ive hit the bottom of the Mediterranian at 250 metres in my VIIC and brought that babe back up, and still made it back to La Spezia. Ive sunk more destroyers than I have merchants...youll wish you never sailed into U-87s hunting grounds. When you pull into port, dont lull yourself into a false sense of security, your mines and subnets are just a petty challenge for my crew and I.

I have had little trouble with armed merchants. Their fire is generally innacurate over 1500 meters and they have a hard time spotting surfaced slow moving u-boats.

Really no reason you shouldn't be able to get within 1500 meters at night without being spotted. Day is another story, they can spot you up to 16km away.

Better luck next time and remember... Virtually every ship out there in stock SH3 is British.

But with GWX it could be any nationality... Check those flags!
