Default Hunter/Killer groups in GWX 2.0

Hello Kaleuns!! Sorry if this has been asked before. I was wondering if Hunter/Killer groups, like the one that attacked and captured the U-505, are modeled in the game... or in GWX 2.0? I was doing a little research about the U-505 and thought hmmmm, I wonder if those groups are in the game. I'm only asking because I have yet to encounter one. Ofcourse, since I started playing DiD, even before GWX, I have yet to live through 1943! :rotfl: LOL. Thanks for your help, my fellow Kaleuns! Good hunting!!

From 43 onwards the Bay of Biscay becomes as dangerous in GWX2.0 as it was in RL for U-Boats. Aside from increased air interdiction you'll get harrassed by hunter killer groups, and if you stray towards the northern ports even raids by MTB's and Elco patrol boats. Great fun...

Yup.

Not only are hunter-killer groups in GWX... but they've been given logical starting and end points... AND random waypoint and speed changes.

Ya never know where they'll turn up!

Teehee.

Good 'ole Bigboywooly.

Good! I'm looking forward to testing my evasion skills... if I make it that far. I edited the game so that I could have a XXI in 1939, and I have to say... its a lot of fun playing with the escorts. I attacked a coastal freighter off Scapa yesterday and the sea was glassy calm. As I'm setting up my torp attack, soundman reports warship closing at high speed. (Freighter must've spotted my periscope on the glassy sea cause she also started zigging) So I located the incoming destroyer through the scope, simply sped up and out-manuevered it and 1 accurate fish sent the coastal freighter to it's grave (right in front of the British destroyer... who I'm sure wasn't too happy.) I then dove to 60 meters, went ahead standard, and left the destroyer in my wake, dropping depth charges and probably scratching its head in disbelief. Experiencing that in 1939, from an escort's POV, would probably be equivalent to a UFO sighting today LOL :rotfl: . I'm looking forward to a challenge in my XXI if I can ever find an escort hunter/killer group. I know how deadly the escorts are in GWX, especially 2.0... which is why it was fun to "taunt" that little destroyer with my XXI. I've met many a death in "conventional" type VII's and IX's at the hands of GWX's escorts (and don't even get me started on the CURSED black swans!!!).

God are they!!!

I had a near run in with one earlier today.

First come the Swordfish planes out scouting... never a good sign in the middle of the atlantic.

then comes the radar signals from the medium speed escorts and in the middle of all that a carrier!

No thanks!

I went to about 200 meters depth and snuck away the opposite direction.

Hehe I recieved a Contact of a Taskforce 50 KMs away from me, heading drirectly towards me, so waited, submerged listened on the hydrophone, corrected course and then i spotted the ships, 5 DDs and in the middle a Bogue Carrier When I was 1700 Metres away from it a DD going zick-zack was coming too close to me so i decided to shoot a full salvo of 4 torps. after the torps were out of the tubes, i dived and hered...torpedo hit....1,5 hours later, after i was sure no DD was chasing me any longer i went to periscope depth and drove back to the point i shot the torps. I looked around....and the Bogue was lying in the water with engines stopped easy food... so fired 2 Torps both hit, and it sank fast

2 Days before i sunk a passenger ship in a convoi (44000 BRT). That was my best Patrol (playing on 100% without map-actualisation and with gwx 2.0) That was fun.
