Default Portsmouth

Anyone taken their uboat for a holiday there?

I've just poked U-35s nose in to see what's there and...well...

So far I've had...

1) A flyby by the Luftwaffe

2) A display by the Lolwaffe

3) Parking demonstration by Dinsdale:

4) And finally, the one thing that almost made me fall off my chair in happiness:

Of course, the real trick now is to position my boat so that the torpedoes I fire don't bounce off. The weather has drawn in more, visibility is poor, so it's going to be a tough one. Fortunately for me though, I seem to have caught the Royal Navy on its day off, no problems in DER KANAL. The one warship I did see on the way to Portsmouth was a torpedo boat which fortunately didn't see me in the weather. Nimbus is truely working for Das Reich!

One word of warning to all Kaleus on Portsmouth, there IS a sub net and, the only entrance in and out is incredibly shallow that you will probably ground yourself even whilst surfaced. This means that I may have to dig my way out of Portsmouth before getting back to Lorient as quick as I can.

44,000 tonnes....

Let's hope the Torpedo Directorate doesn't fail us!

U-35 out.

It's a madhouse, isn't it?

Now if I could just find a midget with some gin I'd be in business...

Yep.. was in Portsmouth on the 3rd day of the war, found the HMS Hood there... and sent her to the bottom of the port.

The subnet gave me a hard time too on my exit but i was lucky and had marked my ingress on the map and had been lucky enough to hit the hole on the way in.

Tool.

It's good to see the Luftwaffe flying on a crummy day.

I am just trying to figure out how they got there without wings? :hmm:

Sure looks like that last plane did not have any...

Perhaps a secret Helicopter test?

Typical! you call in Herr Goerings flyboys just when you need them, and they turn up in Portsmouth . This explains why the Luftwaffe are never there when you need them.

Well if they're not in Portsmouth doing wingless aerobatics, they're in Biscay scaring your watch crew.. Flugzeug gesichtet!! Alaaarm!!....one quick look through the ops scope... friendlies! dammit, auftauchen, did anyone get that plane's number? coz they're buying the drinks when we get home....

or they decide to bomb Bristol, just when you're in the middle of the port lining up to sink an auxiliary cruiser...

They not only stole my credit but nearly sunk me too oddly enough they did manage to miss all the neutral American ships...

Went back to Portsmouth in U-105...yes...you read that correct, a harbour raid in a Type IX...

I must be crazier than Balz....

However:

Quote:
10 Feb 1940
1201 Patrol 2
U-105, 2nd Flotilla
Left at: February 10, 1940, 12:01
From: Thalia
2226 CG 91 Ship sunk! S.S. Port Montreal (Empire-type Freighter), 6725 tons
11 Feb 1940
0917 CG 83 Ship sunk! M/V Helder (Medium Cargo), 4387 tons
12 Feb 1940
0838 CG 58 Ship sunk! M/V White Squall (Medium Cargo), 5654 tons
18 Feb 1940
1955 BF 31 Ship sunk! S.S. Gwaler (HMT Aquitania), 50139 tons
2000 BF 31 Ship sunk! S class, 767 tons
2105 BF 31 Ship sunk! M/V Fort Liard (Large Cargo), 6825 tons
2116 BF 31 Ship sunk! M/V Fort Christina (Modern Tanker), 11018 tons

Patrol results
Crew losses: 0
Ships sunk: 7
Aircraft destroyed: 0
Patrol tonage: 85515 tons
And a hull integrity of 24%....

Lesson learnt, don't do it kids

Some pics:

The Royal Navy goes for a joy-ride "Wave action Duuuude!!"

The prize goes down, netting me 50k

An S Class British sub gets a torpedo in the side, sunk like a rock!

So, there we have it, Portsmouth raided, sirens wailing, and me scraping my fat ass over the sub net on the way out with tracers whizzing past the tower. I had intel that the Ark Royal might have been in town, hence my visit, but the Aquitania is a good second place prize
Now I just have to alter a few logs because for some bizarre reason the sim has decided to forget the 35k I made before I reached the Thalia in Spain.
