Default Would you rob my grave as quick?

Greetings to one and all...

New captain, playing SH3 for about 3 months now, and a forum lurker for about two.

GWX has been the best thing since sliced bread...my sincerest thanks to the people involved.

I'm on patrol 13 of my first DiD career, so itchy fingers and serious second thoughts every time I attack.

So many random images and memories so far:

Those mid atlantic sunsets, on calm waters...

Diving under a dd and losing the peri...

Crashing into my first sub net...(What the he...!)

Tracking my first convoy and finding it already in flames...

But this week, in one sesion was a first of firsts...

I sneak into plymouth harbour, nothing much there, just a med. cargo and a couple of tramps. As I attack, I hear aircraft, am about to run before they start blowing up the same ships...they're the luftwaffe! I sink four of them, but only get credit for 2.

Damn airjockeys.

A few (game) days later i'm georges channel...spot a nice fat small freighter...just as I fire, down come the aircraft and blow it away.

Pesky Flyboys.

Next up, a lone Town class...which i'm only watching silently, waiting to pass me by (I'm not stoopid anymore)...and guess what happens again...Zooooooooooom. Bang. Glug....glug.

I presume that because I'm so close to the mainland, I'm just seeing a lot more luftwaffe activity then I ever had. But that asn't stopped me ordering the crew to check all lockers for a damn luftwaffe tracking device!

I got my own back though. Yesterday, I came across a V&W, limping along at 4 knots. Put a fish under her keel, and down she went in about 6 mins. Before she went, I popped out for 'an outside view', swung around her far side (opposite me) wondering why on earth she was so slow, and behold, another blackened explosion mark on the opposide hull.

So, if you were sitting there in Georges channel, circa Jun, 1941, calmly waiting for your latest V&W to sink...then, eh... sorry bout that.

Dang, I completed 21 patrols in my first career and never came across a single Luftwaffe. I've even successfully raided 3 harbors...

Welcome aboard, Gaijin.

The only Luftwaffe birds I've see are the ones patrolling our bases. More familar with RAF and RN aircraft, which have succeeded in shortening a couple of my patrols

I have seen them several times when near occupied land. Had them steal a kill or two as well. If you want to be sure they will show up, call in a contact report and wait, they will show up, as long as the contact is within their range.

Wilkommen zum Subsim Herr Kaleun!

Hermann's fluffy booted flyboys are the scourge of all the U-bootwaffe! They always turn up when you don't want them to rob you of your renown and never turn up when you desparately need airsupport to keep the verdamnt escorts or allied air forces off your back! If you see one of them in a Lorient bar give him a kick from me!

Gute Jagd!

Yeah the game's pilots are something else.

Once I shadowed a convoy being out of eel's, and they showed up alright. Decent convoy with good targets. What did they do? Bomb the living jazz out of a fishing boat.

Robbing a grave is one way to look at it, but consider this; in the wild west days if your buddy got shot and your short on supplies, would you leave a good pair of boots for the vultures?

Welcome aboard

I too have had kills stolen from by Herr Goerings flyboys. If you feel like it you could always man your AA gun(s), and shoot them down for some payback!

Vielen Dank for the welcome gents.

I have my sailors on standing order no.12 to 'protest vigourously' next time we see one in the bar.

Maybe you could buy them a round of drinks and then spike them...and them tie them up naked somewhere and take pictures of them...you know, friendly military rivalry stuff?
