Default Skin and wakes mod together

I am trying to JSGME activate the 'IXC winter camoflage' skin, I think by Seth. I get a warning message that files have already been altered by the 'longer wakes mod'. Does anyone have both these activated without any adverse affects on the game.

If it's the "Thumbs" file go ahead and enable it. I forgot how to delete the thumbs files.

Thank you very much for your responses. It's these files. They seem to be for the tower, not sure why a wakes mod would need to alter those though.

"Turm9c_1_hd.val" has already been altered by the "Longer Wakes v1.0 for GWX" mod.
"Turm9c_2_hd.val" has already been altered by the "Longer Wakes v1.0 for GWX" mod.
"Turm9c_3_hd.val" has already been altered by the "Longer Wakes v1.0 for GWX" mod.
"NSS_Uboat9c.val" has already been altered by the "Longer Wakes v1.0 for GWX" mod.

Oh. The wake mod changed the values for the wakes to make them longer for the periscope and Turm. I believe you can enable the skin anyway but you may not get the longer wakes for the scope.

I would but they don't show up to select. I have show hidden folders selected but for some reason they still don't show. I must be missing some other setting.

Thanks. I don't mind if the periscope wake is affected, I never look at that. Would it mean that the longer wake wouldn't work whilst running 'decks awash', I suspect it might.
I am realy trying to avoid setting out with the dreary grey standard IXC skin available in GWX. Once the shuttle has landed I will activate the skin anyway and do some decks awash testing in port

Not sure about the decks awash. Let us know how your test turns out.

No luck. Even when surfaced the wake doesn't develop. Ah well. Tested without the skin to check and it worked again. Looks like I will have to find another.

Maybe I've missed the point but couldn't you de-active both, then activate the skins mod. then the longer wakes?

At least the wakes should work.

just my 2p

I have tried it both ways. I have been able to activate another IXC skin (Rheinbung) which went in without issue, not sure what would be diferent in the two skins for oe to produce warnings about files and not the other. I will try a fresh SHIII installation, see if that helps.

Strange problem, mate.... :hmm: Do you have a link to the Rheinbung-skin, so i can check it against the one i made? *Maybe danlisa (My skinning-mentor) has an explanation about this issue..* I haven't tried my skins against the longer wakes-mod (I think i created them before this excellent mod came out..)

These are the links to the version I downloaded:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...heinubung+Skin

http://files.filefront.com/IXC+Rhein.../fileinfo.html

Longer Wakes v1.0 for GWX, running on GWX 1.03.

The warning message also appears when I activate the skin first:

"Turm9c_1_hd.val" has already been altered by the "IXC Winter Camo" mod.
"Turm9c_2_hd.val" has already been altered by the "IXC Winter Camo" mod.
"Turm9c_3_hd.val" has already been altered by the "IXC Winter Camo" mod.
"NSS_Uboat9c.val" has already been altered by the "IXC Winter Camo" mod.

oddly the other boats have the longer wake. I ran the boat all the way out to make sure the wake wasn't just taking time to develop as it sometimes does.

Thanks a lot for any help you might be able to offer. I can't recall having seen something like this before.

I have checked this out, mate.... It looks like my IXC_Winter_camo - skin contains the WHOLE boat... (Dunno' why i did THAT.....) with the .zon , .dat , .cam and .val files.....no wonder you are getting a conflict... I'll look into this when i have the time, mate, and i'll post a reply when it's fixed.... Sorry for any inconvenience, mate! Not my intention at all....

Edit: I also see that the Rheinubung-skin only contains two .tga-files. I will convert my skin into two similar files. PS: I'm moving this thread to the MODS-section!

Excellent, thank you very much for your time and help. The crew and I will be in the wine bar until the next GWX patch comes out, so no rush
