Default Anyone else with this "problem?"

Ahoy, skippers, a question for you. We have all stood our share of watches on the bridge admiring the eye candy that is SHIV. As time has passed, the game has gotten amazingly realistic-looking, with the ROW mod upping the ante considerably.

The "problem" I have is that it takes me forever to get anywhere or get anything done in the game because I'm always stopping to admire the view. I often drop out of time-compression to catch sunrises/sunsets and pleasant nights. It's a real treat to turn out the lights in your game room, turn up the volume, listen to the hum of the diesels and watch the stars come out.

With all the modding progess, the SHIV environment has become one of the most immersive that I can recall, so much so that I can use it as a relaxation device. Nothing soothes frayed nerves like a beautiful sunset on the Pacific with the waves lapping gently along the hull. Of course, you have to be careful that the Japanese won't show up to spoil the party. :p

So my question is: am I the only one with this "problem?" I am sure there must be a few more "sky watchers" out there. Don't be afraid, you can admit it.

No your not alone.

It is satisfying to watch the sunset espically on calm seas.

I almost always drop to 1x to 'watch' a dive or surface "its just like the movies" :p

I save those extended periods of high TC for transits from leaving port or returning after that Im rarely in excess of 1024.

Leo/Kriller and crew wanted you to stop and smell the roses. It is working!

Your not alone friend.

There! I admitted it. That is my first step to recovery!

Default We're just a bunch of pansies!

Here we are in a WAR, sinking ships, blowing stuff up, killing people and we're dropping out of TC to relax! It's the end of the world, I tell you. War has gone to hell in a handbasket. I'm running my exterior camera underwater and saying stupid stuff, "Oooooooo, Ahhhhhhhh" to my computer and my wife thinks I'm on a porn site or something. This is awful!!!!!!!

Wow, look at that sunrise through the fog!

Nothing like standing on the bridge as the sun comes up with a cup of coffee and enjoying the view or watching the sun slip below the horizon while listening to Glen Miller, The Andrews Sisters or maybe an episode of Jack Benny. It is rather relaxing.

Here Here I agree. Every radio station has a selection of Glenn Miller and one recording in mind is his American Patrol. I have the NBC Radio Mod and it makes me spend more time listing to the reports then looking for Ships. Two Patrols and I only have 16000 tons sunk. However its like 10 ships that make up that total.

Maybe it's time to start up SHIVaholics Anonymous (SHIVA) Eye Candy Division.
Just take our handy survey to find out if you have a problem:

-Do you find yourself watching sunsets instead of sinking Japanese merchants?

-Does the deck watch see more of you than your wife does?

-Does Admiral Lockwood send you angry communiques asking why you have not yet reached your patrol zone?

-Does your exec roll his eyes every time you say "Just look at that sky!"?

-Do you store deck chairs in the conning tower?

-Do you return from patrol with more prize photos than enemy tonnage?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions you may have a sub porn addiction. But do not despair, there is hope! Subsim can help. Sign up now for regular group therapy.

I love staying up on the bridge during a storm, it almost feels like you are on a real ship.
