Default Repeat missions in career mode - any fix?

Hi all

I know there are several suggestions for avoiding long load times and repeat missions, by not going to get re-armed and refueled ect... these are not really what I'm trying to find out about, because im already a couple of weeks play time into a career and I have the repeat mission problem, I cant avoid it now.

That being said, has anyone discovered an actual FIX if you get the same mission over and over? I have had a photo recon mission for Tokyo harbor 5 times in a row now, every time I end a war patrol I get it again. Its just not cool anymore... Its a pretty hard mission and its sucking all the fun out of the game, theres about 8 patrols of destroyers and subchasers there, and even if I complete it I'm usually too banged up to do anything else, so I end my war patrol.... and get the damn thing again.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Did i offend you buddy? Send me a PM and we can discuss it.

I'm just looking for information or advice, I was told these forums were a good place to ask for it.

The search funtion is your friend. No offense Lujan, but you're about the 1000th person asking this same question, which might explain why the previous dude was a bit rude Anyway, the answer is to install Trigger Maru, which is my choice, or a separate repeat patrol fix. See the Subsim SH4 Mods area for more info.

Hi there Fincuan, thanks for the reply.

I had searched on the problem, I found a lot of old threads with people discussing it and nobody knowing the solution, I thought it was reasonable to ask for help and see if any newer information had come to light. I was already aware of the TM mod, but I don't want to fundamentally change the style of play of my game just to fix a bug. However I was not aware of there being a separate mod for the specific problem, I have looked in the mod section several times but I must have missed it, I will go and look again.

Thank you again Fincuan for your polite reply and the information, I appreciate the help. Also thank you for refraining from replying like a child.

Glad to help you

As a matter of fact I wasn't able to find a separate mod in under 5 minutes either. Without going entirely TMaru you could always download the whole thing and install only one of the repeat patrol fixes. TMaru 1.6 has three different repeat patrol fixes to choose from, and I believe they all should work without the rest of the mod(can someone confirm this?). I haven't tested this though, so install them with JSGME to be able to revert back to the original in case of trouble.

Thanks for your contribution.

Anyhow......

To the OP keep in mind there are only so many 'mission' types available so repeats are inevatible to some degree. But yes radio contact can at times break the chain.

"by not going to get re-armed and refueled ect..."

I apologize for the rudeness. I was reponding to the poster's apparent lack of interest in solutions that have already been proposed as in "etc" and the commitment to actions which tend to bring them more frequently.

In all fairness...why respond at all in that case...you can either take the time to help a guy who is new to boards, threads, forums, etc and doesn't know how to navigate around yet by posting a link to another thread that contains the solution...or if you don't want to be bother...just let it go and don 't respond at all. Your initial post and as well as the "lack of interest" would tell me that this board is built around a bunch of immature brats if I was new to this board....and its not. The majority of the people on this forum I believe are mature adults willing to help others who need help and who are new.

Lujan has 13 posts to his name when he initially posted his question....First of all...WELCOME to the subsim community and hope you have a good time

As for the rest of the sarcastic guys....why not just let it go vice alienating someone new.

I'll now step off my high horse and proceed on with a patrol...good luck all.

Thank you for the apology, however if you read what I said, I thought I made it clear that I was looking for a fix for the problem, not ways in which to avoid the problem that I was already suffering from - which are two very different things.

I was not trying to be rude or careless to the people that have found that playing in a certain way avoids the problem, the point I was making was that I was aware of the measures, but was beyond avoiding it right now; not that I didn't care how to avoid it.

If a guy walks into a hospital with a gunshot wound, is it more helpful to slap him and lecture him from a book called 'how to avoid being shot' or to point him in the direction of the doctors?
