Repeat missions in career mode - any fix?
Hi all
I know there are several suggestions for avoiding long load times and repeat missions, by not going to get re-armed and refueled ect... these are not really what I'm trying to find out about, because im already a couple of weeks play time into a career and I have the repeat mission problem, I cant avoid it now. That being said, has anyone discovered an actual FIX if you get the same mission over and over? I have had a photo recon mission for Tokyo harbor 5 times in a row now, every time I end a war patrol I get it again. Its just not cool anymore... Its a pretty hard mission and its sucking all the fun out of the game, theres about 8 patrols of destroyers and subchasers there, and even if I complete it I'm usually too banged up to do anything else, so I end my war patrol.... and get the damn thing again. Anyone know how to fix this? |
Too bad.

Did i offend you buddy? Send me a PM and we can discuss it.
I'm just looking for information or advice, I was told these forums were a good place to ask for it. |
The search funtion is your friend. No offense Lujan, but you're about the 1000th person asking this same question, which might explain why the previous dude was a bit rude :) Anyway, the answer is to install Trigger Maru, which is my choice, or a separate repeat patrol fix. See the Subsim SH4 Mods area for more info.

Hi there Fincuan, thanks for the reply.
I had searched on the problem, I found a lot of old threads with people discussing it and nobody knowing the solution, I thought it was reasonable to ask for help and see if any newer information had come to light. I was already aware of the TM mod, but I don't want to fundamentally change the style of play of my game just to fix a bug. However I was not aware of there being a separate mod for the specific problem, I have looked in the mod section several times but I must have missed it, I will go and look again. Thank you again Fincuan for your polite reply and the information, I appreciate the help. Also thank you for refraining from replying like a child. |
Glad to help you
As a matter of fact I wasn't able to find a separate mod in under 5 minutes either. Without going entirely TMaru you could always download the whole thing and install only one of the repeat patrol fixes. TMaru 1.6 has three different repeat patrol fixes to choose from, and I believe they all should work without the rest of the mod(can someone confirm this?). I haven't tested this though, so install them with JSGME to be able to revert back to the original in case of trouble. |
Try radioing in your status after the icon has gone gray. That has been reported as a way to get around repeat missions. If you have enough supplies, i.e. torpedoes and fuel, you maybe assigned a new mission, otherwise you are free to do as you wish.

Also, if you are out of torpedoes and you have not been given any direction by command, find a convoy, call it in. A message will pop up stating good job, come on home, we will send other assest. Usually this will kick you into a different misson. The only time I had a repeat mission over and over was off Honshu. I was able to break the repeat by reporting in a convoy.

Very good advice, thank you to all three of you.
I am trying the standalone fix from TM atm, but I will also try your suggestions as well, I'm sure it cant hurt. |

Anyhow...... To the OP keep in mind there are only so many 'mission' types available so repeats are inevatible to some degree. But yes radio contact can at times break the chain. |
thanks for the info
again its Honshu .. But I will try the radio too report convoys

"by not going to get re-armed and refueled ect..."
I apologize for the rudeness. I was reponding to the poster's apparent lack of interest in solutions that have already been proposed as in "etc" and the commitment to actions which tend to bring them more frequently. -Pv- |

Lujan has 13 posts to his name when he initially posted his question....First of all...WELCOME to the subsim community and hope you have a good time As for the rest of the sarcastic guys....why not just let it go vice alienating someone new. I'll now step off my high horse and proceed on with a patrol...good luck all. |

Thank you for the apology, however if you read what I said, I thought I made it clear that I was looking for a fix for the problem, not ways in which to avoid the problem that I was already suffering from - which are two very different things. I was not trying to be rude or careless to the people that have found that playing in a certain way avoids the problem, the point I was making was that I was aware of the measures, but was beyond avoiding it right now; not that I didn't care how to avoid it. If a guy walks into a hospital with a gunshot wound, is it more helpful to slap him and lecture him from a book called 'how to avoid being shot' or to point him in the direction of the doctors? |
I have also the same problem with repetead missions over and over again.
Have you solved the problem with any of the alternatives that you were going to try? If yes,pls advise.Good Hunting Quote:
