Default Fewer contact reports

It's Apr 1944 (in GWX 1.03), and I'm on my second patrol to the North Atlantic. I've received very few contact reports during this and the previous patrol - only one for a convoy in the 4-week patrol, and none in two weeks during the current patrol. I'm getting more Task Force reports. Is this expected, i.e. is this SH3/GWX "simulating" fewer reports due to U-boat attrition and lack of Condor and other aircraft observations?

I would expect so. GWX is based on the historical situation.

So that's the reason for the lack of contact reports I'm getting from you lately

Just kidding!

There were a very many occasions in RL when boats returned to base without even a sniff of encountering anything

I'm on my 32nd patrol with GWX 1.03, it is now August 1943 sailing out of Breman with the 11th Flotilla. We've defintely become the hunted. Nothing but airplanes and hunter-killer groups. Found an Artic convoy on my 31st patrol but could not get close enough to launch torpedos. Spotted by destroyer escorts and I took quite a bit of damage. Had to return to base.
