Default detection problems

Hi all,

I have been playing sh3 for a while now and need a little advice from any hardened skipper

I do everything i can think of when trying to evade convoy escort ships, cut engines, silent running, ahead slow, dive deep, hard turns etc etc and yet I nearly always get blow to bits?

Any suggestions please, I am running Grey wolfs mod pack.

Thanks

First, ignore Morh's advice. It is useless.

Push your sub deeper still. Try not to go above two knots. Present only the smallest possible aspect ratio/cross section in relation to the escort's sensors. Try to head away from the escorts and the convoy at the same time as best you can. Don't leave your periscope up any longer than you must. Pop it up... gather your data... pop it down.

Get decoys as soon as they are available.

Keep your cool and be patient. Think like a hunter and be sneaky. If you are waiting to dive until after you are detected... they'll do their level best to sink you.

Don't get target fixation. If you don't have a good escape route or take risks to loose the eels... they'll find you. Instead, slink back and redeploy some miles ahead a few hours later.

remember, your success as a uboat captain is firstly not to be detected at all!! If you achieve this then you have won the battle - other wise, do as what Lehmann says, be patient and try and move at 1kt and go deep, very very deep like 200+ meters

Yes, the Kpt´s advice is good
Try to use the stand off range of your weapons, fire from 2000m or more, depending on the torpedoes you´ve got. Scope down and clear datum as soon as the torps has left the tubes. When the first torp hits, speed up to get deeper faster and then slow down to 1 knot and keep your stern pointing to your firing position. If you still get detected, follow the Kpt´s advice.
