Dillema at Curacao

Now, I haven't raided a harbor in a long time.

But U-502 has arrived at Curacao There are a lot of tankers lying in the harbor, at least 4 smaller tankers and three Yankee big ones

A few neutrals too, their lights come in quite handy

There is at least one DD patrolling about. No Elco's in sight. I did just sink a large tanker some 25 km's out, so I'm a bit worried about DD's or Elco's boxing me in should I make an attack. Fortunately, the waters are deep, so no mines, but nets also have me worried.

Mmm...:hmm: :rotfl:

I'd say throw caution to the wind, and go for it. Sink em all!

Then again....... maybe not.

Although Im pretty sure that someone else will prescribe this course of action, regardless of what year it is.

Sink the DD, fire remaining torps at merchies, surface and blow the hell out of the rest of them with the deck gun.

And if it takes you fancy sink the DD with the DG!

same here. im a harbour specialist (like brag said). and if its just one DD then why worry. let em panic after seeing the fir's in the harbour. and after you sank em then sink the DD
dont let coution ruin your day. in such conditions the coution is your enemy

Like Mohr says, go for it. But I would zonk the DD first. It makes for a more relaxing operation.

U-502 has begun the attack and is almost in firing range of the first large US tanker (with my trusty steamer eels). Herr Kaleun almost fell asleep at the helm tonight so more to come :rotfl:

Anyway, not only is there a DD (the one with four smokestacks...), but there is a Flower corvette too. I have too few DG shells... The sea is like a sheet of billiart cloth, decks awash, langsame fahrt... it's soo quiet, no moon, lots of stars, very intense Local time is still only 20.30 or so... hehehe plenty of time... langsam...

Maybe I will attack the DD, but right now, the priority is hitting the two large tankers with steamers.

Temper, temper, my capitan - scan for nets and coast artillery before you begin an attack. They can really spoil your day if you'll be too fast After that, take the guards first, and kill them all

There are coastal batteries. No nets so far, but I'm still about 10 km out of the piers.

Actually, the batteries is probably why I won't attack the escorts.

I want to delay detection until the last moment. Heck, at 2 kts, I keep whispering 'langsamm...' to myself when the occassional wave makes some noise across the (aswash) bow :rotfl:

Coastal batteries have limited angle of fire, so you may easy avoid their fire, if they're not pointed at the harbour of course. Their spotting abillity is another thing. Remember if you decide to use your deck gun be aware of planes even at night (after 1941) Be prepared, because after you comens an attack yankees will call for help, no doubt.

I'd sink the escorts, fire my eels at the tankers, back out & reload out of range of the shore batteries..

It's 1945 for me and my XXI is almost in the caribbean Save some tankers for me :rotfl:
