Just out of curiosity, do any of y'all have ideal speeds for fuel consumption. And also since i am using the intercept method found in the newbie guide do any of you have the estimated speeds for the ruler (Like slow=6knts) because i dont know the others. Thankyou all again in advance.

It depends, but I usually (IXB/C) go ahead slow, 1/3 at most cruising or submerged. On long patrols, it is highly recommended. Also, on ahead slow one can survive the daylight submerged, wich is most helpful.
I save my fuel for emergencies and attacks ![]() (As for the ruler, should you by any chance be using GWX, the GWX mod includes some sheets that should help, look for them in the upper left corner at the periscope station)

Economical speeds:
II 5 knots VII 6-7 Kts IX 8 kts Reported speeds: Slow up to 7 kts Medim 8-9 kts Fast 9- 12 kts Very hast probably over 15 knots Met only one doing 22 knots I might be wrong by a knot here and there ![]()

yeah, speed is a strange thing, it uses more fuel usage is not directly proportional to speed

Most tijmes I stick to 1/3 speed (around 7 knots), and this I find is the best way to consereve fuel. This is both for the type VII and Type IX/B.

Quite correct, fuel and power are NOT directly proportional to speed. They are proportional to speed to the third power. In other words, double the speed from 8 to 16 knots, power requirement goes up no less than EIGHT times- and hence fuel consumption does. This assumes that propeller efficiency remains the same, which in reality is not the case; the lower a propeller's rpm is, the higher its efficiency. However, for our purposes, it's good enough.
