GWX escorts commits suicide...

I have been playing GWX for a while. And its a big improvement over vanilla.
However, during a convoyattack I went inside the convoy, and raised my periscope to take a look. I was discovered by the escorts ( of course

). The escorts starts to shoot at me, and to my surprise they started blow themselves up!! Shooting themself to pieces

. The most pathetic thing was that a escort, also ran into a merchant after he had commited harakiri, sinking the merchant! I laughed quite alot..

Question is, how could this happen? A bug? or?
