Default First trip to the Caribbean

U-123 makes her first trip to the Carribbean. She was scheduled to go there on her first patrol in July 41 but was diverted to chase down a task force off the coast of Ireland. U-123 lost 3 officers and 14 crewman in that venture and the boat was in repairs for two months. Now on Oct 11 1941 she sails again. Hope to get some nice tankers coming out of the Port of Spain.

I've never been as far as the mid atlantic never mind over to the east coast. Will probably do it in a IXC in a seperate career...what speed should you use for cruising over there? ahead 1/3?

8-9kt is best in a IXC. If you have to run hard for a while hope there is a milch cow on the way back.

after discovering a large amount of brit traffic coming out of the Med, orders were changed and I never made the trip. Sunk alot of ships but lost 2 officers, 14 petty officers and 9 seaman in the process.

indeed cap. only my second patrol in U-123 and I have lost 5 officers, 24 petty officers and 22 seaman On the bright side there has been over 150000 tons sunk on those two patrols still the loss of life is a bit excessive. my officers are all sub lieutenants now

I'm on my first patrol down there as well in a IXC. From Lorient to off the coast of Florida, steaming at Ahead 1/3 - 8kts I seem to be using a lot of fuel and am worried about making it home w/o finding a milch cow along the way. Did the Type IX's have enough fuel for a round-trip, or did they have to refuel at some point?
