Default Sunk with...Flak gun in 1939?

GWX 1.03, just started a new career in a Type 2. went out on my first patrol sunk two ships and spent all my torps (hit 4 ships but only 2 went down)

On the way back however I came across a little freighter. So, not wanting to pass up the opportunity. I manned the little flak gun and started firing on her.

Got most of the destructables from the top of her deck. She didn't go down...then I decided to see if I could actually sink it. So I got into a good position and started firing below the waterline where the prop was. I got the shock of my life as the ship started smoking...badly... Kept firing and pretty soon she lit up like hiroshima. I've never seen a ship blow up like that. I don't know if she was carrying fuel or oil. But...wow...

Anyone else tried sinking with a flak gun? Or...am I not alone?

I have sunk some small vessel during my raid to Freetown port.
I fired all torpedos against escort ships and Liner a little bit later I sunk some tankers and medium size vessels by deck gun and finally I tried to use flak gun.
Please note I sunk 4 small vessels - don't try to use it against any bigger vessel.
You are not able to destroy any medium size !

That's probably why. When destroying the destructables on any of the ships in GWX you are causing damage to the superstructure of that vessel.

Then again, maybe she was carrying fuel or high explosives.

I dunno...but she had a wicked oil slick fire for a couple minutes...

and the ship was a 2222 tonner. Dunno if that adds to the impressiveness to it or not

Update: Sunk a 4400 tonner with a single torp and about 150 rounds of 20mm ammo
