Default G**d Da***t!

So close! Almost got to the end of the war! About 2 weeks from VE day and I got KIA...

Found a nice juicey convoy, usual amount of DD escorts, "nothing I can't handle" I thought (wrongly!). One escort carrier and two tankers later I'm diving down 40stb rudder "wasser bomben Herr Kaluen!" *BOOM*. Serious flooding, shook them off and got it under control, I stay under as long as I can...the batteries nearly flat so I surface under the cover of night to charge them (hydrophone destroyed!). "waship spotted!" ALLLLAARRRMM!!! (here we go again!) BOOM BOOM BOOM - get rid of him with a well timed homing fish "hurrahh!", not really lol. Half the crew are dead, both diesels destroyed, batteries damaged and nearly out of charge...I'm forced to surface. The deceased are burried and I try to make my way back to safe territory, can't call for help, the radio's destroyed, conning towers a mess, all aft tubes out of action...a dark moment in my longest carrear! The Coup De Grace came when a aircraft comes out of nowhere, I'm a sitting duck...

You can guess the result lol, by far the most exciting patrol EVER in SHIII for me! I was gettin to the stage where I was like "don't give in you heap of junk!" fixing the leaks in the control room.

Think I'll go get meself a beer, I need it lol.

At least you were saved the humility of surrendering

IXD2 I think (get confused with all the different types of IX), from 1939 onwards yes. I've got another career with the XXI, which is very cool. The way it all ended was rather horrid, I got hit by the sunderland or whatever it was and sustained heavy flooding, she sank beneath the waves and sank to crush depth and that was the end...ouch!

Are you using SH3 Commander? If so, change it to surrendered. It's not cheating to abandon ship if you were surfaced. Of course if you were killed outright by the bomb...

Yeah thats the thing I love about subsims you are never EVER safe.

It just feels diffrent from combat flight sims...too much of nothing before the combat.

Yeah I always use SHIII commander. I would change it to surrender, but the bomb made pretty sure I didn't have a chance lol. I would have made a last stand with the flak gun but all three were destroyed!

Default uncharted waters for me

I don't have the faintest idea what 1945 is like, much less two weeks from VE day. I've never gotten past June '43.

To be fair, I think I would have been shot for cowardace sometimes lol. There were many times where I backed off from convoys because of the DD escorts, had some very close calls too!
