Default Someone is stealing my targets

Hi all,
first of all I want to thank all the people that contributed to GWX. They made this game superb. I used to play SH3 a while ago but after I learned about GWX - I'm amazed and fascinated - I play full real in dead-is-dead mode. I did not return from my first two patrols, but the third career in the med. I like it a lot among other things because of the better weather. In the first patrol I got both periscopes destroyed in an air attack on the second day of the mission...
The current is a little frustrating, but thats life of kaleun, right? For a week I'm fleeing from the bees, I messed up a convoy attack...
Once I got into shooting position of a cargo ship. Aircraft spotted but look... they are ours and they did attack the ship. They damaged it, I though one torpedo should do... it didnt... well
The next day - a lone merchant, nice weather, everything clear for sending it to the bottom (see the screenshot) and rewarding the crew with a bottle of beer each. But then. It just sinks. Just like that, only the gray sinked icon replaces the contact. Now this happened previously as well. What is going on here? It might have been another sub, or friendly planes sinking it. But that is very unlikely in the short span of time. So my actual quesion is - is this a bug or I'm I simply unfortunate...
Thanks all!

I admit it! It was me!

To be honest mate, no idea. I've seen ships sink of rough weather, but it was a nice day wasn't it? hmmm......:hmm:

Welcome to Subsim matey.

There are a couple of possibilties, aircraft attack or sub attack. You are not alone out there.

As Biggles said, ships can sink in really bad weather also.

Welcome aboard!

I've had on a number of occasions gray sunk symbols but still got credited. Usually it happens in conditions of poor visibility. Check your log and see if the sinking is listed.

this happened to me in GWX too, a convoy had obviously been wolfpacked, escorts and ships on fire and such, I'm making my approach and suddenly there's 3 sunk ship icons, nothing to do with me, I guess they finally gave up and and sank

Bit of a bummer when it's a lone merchant you've made a nice approach on like in the screenie

also, you can use this to your advantage, in really rough weather, convoys usually have a few stragglers, already sort of bow low in the water and struggling to keep up, easy pickings for the enterprising Kaleun

Dear all,
thank you for the warm welcome. Yeah, it must have been someone else then. I did not the credit for then one and otherwise the see was calm.
Maybe they had a gipsy fortune teller on board and decided to finish themselves off?

All of the above are possibilities but I have also witnessed ships detonate mines
