Default Silent Hunter 5

Perhaps now is the time to start discussing SH5.In the last 4 sims we have seen various aspects of the WW2 submarine war covered but nothing has ever tried to simulate the Royal Navy submarine service at war.The RN submarines covered the whole globe against many different enemies with many different roles. Many allies used the standard British equipment.I do not want a mod of a current game. The basic sim engine can be used, but with allied equipment and voices.Perhaps Ubisoft can be persuaded to have a look at this as their next submarine project.

People started talking about a possible SH5 several months ago on this board.
You're a little late.

Well done

As for SH5, I guess I would be the only one interested in a WWI subsim

Of course any future subsim should have voice command IMHO

"Well done"? I was going to leave this alone, but now you pushed the button.

If you want to crticize America's lack of involvement in the two World Wars, you need to go back 200 years and understand what our attitude has always been towards Europe in general.

I will say no more here. If you want to pursue this, go to the General Topics board and start a thread there. I will gladly tell you what, where, when and why there.

*Yawn*

Sounding General Quarters, SS?

Instead of ETO/PTO subsim's, why not just make a universal Naval sim?? No reason why you can't save and exit your Kriegsmarine U-boot career and then load up your IJN DE career without needing to change discs, IMHO.

I'd also like to see a WWI sim. As for voice command, Game Commander will let you control any keyboard command by voice. However, observers will rightly conclude that you are utterly insane as they watch you in action.

I know the next title:

Ubisoft announces Silent Hunter 5, "Dolphins of the Black Sea"
Take Command of Rumania's only WW2 Submarine, Delfinul and command it during its exciting service as "fleet in being" during the war with the USSR.
Take her on defensive patrols in rumanian home waters while the soviet fleet is holed up on the caucasus coast.
You can even participate in the only torpedo attack she ever made..
Can you hit the unescorted soviet merchant? Change history and sink it...
As a bonus, the two rumanian "super submarines" of 1944 might be included.
Lurk off the turkish coast while a huge battle is going on in the Crimea and change sides. Ward off a deadly depth charging by a croatian motor boat....

Yeah, NS, with Ubisofts track record for dumping good sims early the last thing we should be doing is encouraging them.

As for a the Delfinul and SH5..... how boring does that sound?

Do the Brit subs, Japanese subs, or make a fictional cold war (pre nuke sub 1946-1950) game.
