Silent Hunter 5

Perhaps now is the time to start discussing SH5.In the last 4 sims we have seen various aspects of the WW2 submarine war covered but nothing has ever tried to simulate the Royal Navy submarine service at war.The RN submarines covered the whole globe against many different enemies with many different roles. Many allies used the standard British equipment.I do not want a mod of a current game. The basic sim engine can be used, but with allied equipment and voices.Perhaps Ubisoft can be persuaded to have a look at this as their next submarine project.

People started talking about a possible SH5 several months ago on this board.
You're a little late.

Better late than never, a bit like America and World Wars.

I'm here all week folks.

I know the next title:

Ubisoft announces Silent Hunter 5, "Dolphins of the Black Sea"
Take Command of Rumania's only WW2 Submarine, Delfinul and command it during its exciting service as "fleet in being" during the war with the USSR.
Take her on defensive patrols in rumanian home waters while the soviet fleet is holed up on the caucasus coast.
You can even participate in the only torpedo attack she ever made..
Can you hit the unescorted soviet merchant? Change history and sink it...
As a bonus, the two rumanian "super submarines" of 1944 might be included.
Lurk off the turkish coast while a huge battle is going on in the Crimea and change sides. Ward off a deadly depth charging by a croatian motor boat....

Well done

As for SH5, I guess I would be the only one interested in a WWI subsim :smug:

Of course any future subsim should have voice command IMHO

Kumando 03-26-07 03:35 PM

Sh4 is not finished, hell they didint even bothered to finish Sh3 (including wolfpack, receive new orders at sea, etc) you guys are worryied about Sh5?

Hans Schultz 03-26-07 03:37 PM

lets worry about a SH4 v2.0 before SH5.

Sailor Steve 03-26-07 03:38 PM

"Well done"? I was going to leave this alone, but now you pushed the button.

If you want to crticize America's lack of involvement in the two World Wars, you need to go back 200 years and understand what our attitude has always been towards Europe in general.

I will say no more here. If you want to pursue this, go to the General Topics board and start a thread there. I will gladly tell you what, where, when and why there.

Come on Steve, I´m sure they were just joking. ;)

I'd also like to see a WWI sim. As for voice command, Game Commander will let you control any keyboard command by voice. However, observers will rightly conclude that you are utterly insane as they watch you in action. :D

It's your thing, do whatcha wanna do
I can't tell ya, who to sock it to

Most of the people here need at least a year to get a new stockpile of complaints, whining, and general silliness before we can begin discussing SH5....:yep:

Linton 03-26-07 04:15 PM

Why cannot all of you get a grip and keep on topic??So what was the previosly stated thread about then?I bet it was not about what I have suggested!!
Walks off shaking his head in disbelief:down::down::down::down::down::down::down ::down:

I'm with you Linton. A sim based on this (SH4/3) platform with UK subs would be great!

PS OT I used to think I was out of line on the general Forum but I can see now that the same folks like to stur it up no matter where they go.

Sailor Steve 03-26-07 04:19 PM

Sorry, Linton. Sometimes it doesn't take much to get my dander up. At least I offered to take it elsewhere.

As for the Silent Hunter name, it will probably always be WW2. I said just yesterday in another thread that it will probably wait for the full development of Vista and DX10.
