Default Liars!!!!

Before the game came out, I asked if my video card would be able to run it, and was told unequivicably, absolutely, positively no way!!! Not just that it would be slow, but that it wouldn't run at all!
Well lo and behold this morning, I get a message from the Yahoo SH group that lists the supported video cards, and mine is on the list!!! So I go to UBI's website, and I find a program that will check your system's compatibility for the game. This is what it showed for my video card:

Video Card Minimum: 128 MB RAM DirectX 9-compliant video card capable of rendering Pixel Shader 2.0 (NVIDIA GeForce 6200+ / ATI Radeon 9600+) You Have: RADEON X300/X550 Series (Radeon X300/X550/X1050 Series (0x5B60))

</IMG>PASS Video Card Features - Minimum attributes of your Video Card </IMG>Video RAM: Required - 128 MB , You have - 128.0 MB</IMG>Video Card 3D Acceleration: Required - Yes , You have - Yes</IMG>Video HW Transform & Lighting: Required - Yes , You have - Yes</IMG>Vertex Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0 , You have - 2.0</IMG>Pixel Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0 , You have - 2.0

Top end, no. But still above the minimum, and thus playable!! And that's what I'm mad about. Because of what I was told, I cancelled my pre-order. If I hadn't, I could've been playing the game by now!!!
I'm so mad right now I could shoot survivors in a lifeboat!!

Sooooo..

Because the developers were able to optimize the code to work on your card...

OR

Because the Publisher listed the specs conservatively to try and keep people's expections at a realistic level...

You call them liars and complain that it will work on your system? Man! Do I ever wish I could be a Simulation Developer/Publisher.

Or maybe I'll just sit here in my office and whack myself in the head repeatedly with a blunt metal object. I have the feeling that it would be much the same experience.

I read that and took it as Fred calling the guys here liars. There were guys here before the game ever came out recommending upgrading this or that based on their own assumptions as to what the game would need to run smoothly.

I wouldnt expect too good performance from x300/x500 card. I had x600 once and it sucked major butt. Yeh, the game works, but the FPS will most propably be very low.

Pretty much everything I wanted to say, minus the fact I wanted to indulge in a little personal commentary as well :rotfl:

If that's the case I apologize.

Because you guys are a bunch of well known liars.

Life is so hard, ain't it? You do realize that when you ask us for help or info, we do the best we can? And if we are wrong, we are liars?

Thanks, pal

When the poster tries to play the game using his current card, and when the game makes his card as welcome as a fart in a space suit, I wonder who he'll blame then?
