Crew Abilities NOT Working?
I was curious if anyone else has found success with their crews and their special abilities working correctly.
I am less concerned about the 'Less chance of breakage' and 'Fanatical Commander' types, but much MORE interested in the ones that 'Increase Torpedo Speed', 'Decrease Torpedo Loading' and 'Increas Overall Speed' of the sub. I've loaded a few games with them and had no effect, even after I spiked the percentage factor that their skill affects by a factor of 10. These skills working for anyone, or is it just me? |

Hmm, got a crew guy with the increase torpedo speed and THAT works quite well. But the officer with Increase Overall Speed of the sub still does NOT.

I think it can be difficult to judge, as there is so much more that factors in. Such as efficency, fatigue, rank, weather and sub type.
To test these properly, you would need to test under the exact same conditions each time and compare with or without.

Why would you want torpedo speed to increase? It would probably throw off the TDC calculations.

It DOES toss TDC calcs a bit. But if you do actual math to figure out each shot it's easy to adjust for a 20% speed increase over the given 46knts on most of the torps.
For me, I just jot down the Range and Speed of the target when at 90* off bow and mark which angle left or right I have to adjust the torp. Have to start that chart over again now that I have started a full career. Easy to test for. Mod the value from the stock percentage to something wild. Torps at 2000% increase move faster than the F11 view when holding shift. Sub with 2000% increase moves at the exact same top speed, so I wonder if that crew quality works at all. I guess I *COULD* try setting it to 20,000 just to be even sillier. BTW, 2000% numbers are really not playable, just for giggles. Torp speed makes no difference anyway if you can't calc the right shot setting, and stock-ish speeds are much more forgiving in that department. |

Don't worry about the crew abilities. Just put in patch 1.1 and all that stuff disappears!
My crew list doesn't show that stuff any more. I can tell if they are sleeping, but the current task info is also removed. Why? |

BTW, if you can ever hire a Torp Specialist who increases torp damage... it is WELL WORTH IT@!
At the goofy 500 mark, a single torp can slag a carrier. Stock increase value for this crew quality is 20% I believe. I set it to 40% and left it, but have not had a crew of this skill available yet in my career mode. |
