Default GWX choppiness issues

Well done on GWX! I installed a clean install of SHIII, and GWX. The game has changed things that I like (TONS of ships everywhere- Kiel actually looked like a harbor and not some ghost town!) and stuff I don't like (You nerfed my favorite weapon- the deck gun! even though it is more realistic.)

The only problem I have is this: When I played stock SHIII, the game ran fine. The only time I got any kind of slowdown was when I was running really high (1024) time compression. Other than that things were fine. But with GWX, the game really chugs along. I'm trying to lower the detail settings, but just wonder if there's anything else I can do to help the performance.

How much RAM you have? What's the specs of your computer? If you're having lagging troubles try enabling the Little harbour traffic mod and the 8Km Atmosphere. That way you will miss the harbour traffic but the game will run faster.

Many people experience a drop in frame rates when in harbour....it should pick up nicely when your out in the open sea

I had the same problem until I installed a new graphics card, now it runs better than when I had only Stock SHIII

Hello fellow kaleun! As the other officers previously said,do enable the harbour Lite mod and use 8km Atmosphere.I actually use a mod that makes the sea/sky more clear at night.

If your problem occurs when you are looking an explosion, all you have to do is lower particles. In Stock SH3,i had particles to 60 and it was fine.In GWX it was like a slide show.I put it to 30 and it's fine again. No reason to use low detail textures after i did that.

I have just a modest nvidia 6600.

I have a Radeon 9250 lol and tis ok on mine
Choppy in port and when close to a convoy
I could use the Lite harbour but prefer to see live ports

The 16km atmosphere doubles the game view from the 8km but increases strain on the system in relation
I use the 8km for that reason
