A question for the old SH2 sailors.

When I used to sail in SH2 I was able to put markers on the map to outline the shallow areas where I could not go without going aground. I can't, for the life of me, remember how I used to accomplish this. I used it to marker out the areas of Scapa Flow I had to avoid while at periscope depth (as an example) and then I would set my course, skirting these areas, to avoid detection while I snuck in.

My question is...is there a map tool, for SH3, which can tell me what the depth is at my cursors position? I believe it was something like this that I used to employ in the SH2 map...but I'm older and I've had a few more beers since that time...I just can't recall how I did it. :p

As far as "reality"...I assume that real U-boat captains would have had this info on their charts? I know that getting into shallow water is not the best of situations for a sub...but it can come in handy, at times. The navigator in SH3 can only tell me current depth under my keel...I'd like something to use for course planning on the map.

Any ideas?

And if there are any old SH2 Captains out there who know what I'm talking about...tell me how I used to do it before I go insane!
