Default weather in GWX

Can someone please explain how the weather works in GWX. I 've read in a topic that in stock SH there is a check at about 11 hours of game time to see if the weather will change, with a chance of about 20% that it will, but anytime you save the game the meter that counts that 11 hours resets to zero, so if you save let's say every 10 hours there is no chance the weather will change. Is the same case in GWX? Is that weather mod in the downloads page going to change the weather more often if I download it?

Yes the weather in GWX is the same as its governed by the game
Your explanation above is spot on

You can use the weather mod
It does work though its a long time since I used it

It's still annoying at times but at least it does not linger forever the worst I had in GWX with 23/12 patch installed is about a week of foul weather continusly bt that was is in SE Asia my second career in the atlantic hasn't been too bad yet.

The weather changes, always for the worst. It is flat calm when you're out of deck ammo, or can't find ships. The visibility goes down to nothing when a convoy is coming. Bloody monstrous seas for when you need speed. Then it gets bad :rotfl: :rotfl:

The thing that gets me with the weather in SH3 stock and GWX is the fog. I know the atlantic was a rough place so I don't mind the wind and waves but has there ever been that much fog for so long? Being blanketed in heavy fog 24 hours a day for 5 days just doesn't seem realistic to me. I'd expect some heavy fog at certain times of the day like early morning for example, but all day, every day?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The weather was bad, the thing that is screwy in SH3 is the wind with the fog, heavier winds should equal no fog.

In books I have read, the fog was so bad on the Atlantic , convoys literally drifted miles apart, subs were driven way off course because they could not shoot the stars

I've seen fog with a 47 knot wind at sea. The weather in SH3&GWX is not that unrealistic
