Default Shiny new SH3 disc & 5mbps connection

Hey from a new recruit! I've played the hell out of the SH2 i found in a bargain bucket for 5 euros and moved on up to SH3, or i should say down as i spend a lot of time sitting on the bottom with depth charges falling around my ears! Looked in on this site a few times but have one question which you've prob answered a million times .... GWX or Tonnage war?? What i mean is there a gameplay difference between them. I gather a crap load of work has gone into them. Would appreciate any bit of insight anyone might have and sorry if this is repetition. Cheers

im a GWX user and i would recommend this but its down to personal preference really try em both see what you think.
GWX is very realistic with lots of changes to stock sh3.
i havent used the other mod

NYGM Tonnage war is a gameplay mod, aiming for the 'drown yourseld if you die' realism.

GWX is an all-around mod making changes to pretty much everything, sounds, graphics, gameplay etc.

But like Mooncatt pointed out, it all comes down to the personal taste. Try them both and pick the one you like. With 5mbps connection it wont take long. :rotfl:

Oh, and welcome to SubSim, the best forum in the world!

Sounds like GWX might be the one for me then. Those enhanced graphics will give me something to look at while I cruise aimlessly up and down with not a ship in sight for hours on end! Tis a lonely life and gonna get more so if my girlfriend carries out her threat. I've told her no women on the bridge!

I'm a GWX junkie. I have never used the others because, once GWX was in I was completely satisfied with how the game should be(at least for me anyway)

Try GWX and knock yourself out or just let the Tommies do the thing...
Really it's one great mod matey, that adds much more colours to SH3. Give it a bash.
I dig it.

GWX it was. On my first patrol and already bagged myself a nice little tramp steamer Manual targeting but i'll admit to having dud torps turned off. Damned if I'm gonna get to the tip of Cornwall the long way round and watch them bounce off. Hard enough to hit them in the first place. Not sure about being bombed by Hurricane fighters though, that just doesn't seem right. Cheers for the advice. Now if I could just change that Bilge Rat picture. Remove the hat and put a cigarette in the mouth and it looks like my brother :hmm: Oh and 5mbps my ass! Hit a high of 2.45mbps last night. Gonna have a word with my ISP methinks, still better than dial up i suppose

You've made a wise choice. Welcome to the mad world of GWXers.
