Heh - just wiped out an entire convoy - 23 ships - in the northwest corner of Grid DH. When i encountered her (IXC, June '41), the water was still and for some reason the convoy became alerted by my presence and started swerving. I was annoyed, and seeing as my perfect strike was ruined I decided to take out the lead escort, a Black Swan. A keelshot at 800m ended her. She was pinging me even as her bow was underwater
![]() I then waded into the convoy and started taking keelshots on various big ships. I was approached by the two remaining escorts (trawlers) and decided to take them out too. Now, be advised, I was using Weapon Officer assistance for every shot, so it was kinda cheating. Anyway, I then focused on taking out the remaining C2s and C3s who had deck guns - I just sailed along with the convoy at 6kts, reloading my tubes and firing as necessary. I surfaced and finished off the final listing C2 in a dawn gun battle. Then, free as can be, I sauntered about the convoy lanes, lighting up ships with the deck gun. Thanks to GWX, ships tend to 'brew up' easy with a few 10.5cm rounds, and I sunk a bunch of small merchants with ~5 shells each. I then lazily reloaded the externals and went for keelshots on the remaining helpless ships. It was shameful:p Now I'm heading back towards gibraltar with my 3 remaining torps, and 169,000 in tonnage sunk. Ducimus: if there's a tonnage contest, Weapon Officer assistance _must_ be off ![]() |
