Actually, I never have, not even my very first time. I had most of the options selected, although I had the event camera, external camera and map contact on, and had manual targetting off.

A side note: one of my gripes about playing MP are the default difficulty levels it has. I could wish for an intermediate level between their 'normal' and 'hard' settings.

I never use manual targetting, and keep the camera (I like to make screenies). I would do manual targetting if there was an AI captain patrol where I shipped as torpedo officer.

Never have. Even when learning there's such a thing as too easy.

NEVER. I started with 30% realism, then 50% realism. Now 70% realism (with God eye mode on, regular contact report, and auto TDC done by the game itself)

I've started with normal (34%) and slowly worked it up. I think that normal is very good to begin with.

I started with using all the bells and whistles offered but that became boring really quick. I simply turned off everything with exception of WO assist and outside viewing.
