OM has so many different turms and hulls, it’s driving me mad sometimes.
Not that easy to find out my way through all this!
From what I see on that uboat dot net site, the IX & IXb had the rear AA gun mounted on the deck, but I'm sure there were variations of the IXb that had other configurations - of course, maybe that's where the IXc and IXc40 & IXd "models" came from??... lol - Quite a bit like US subs in the Pacific, it probably depended upon the date you're looking at the boat, and who the commanding officer was, as to what its deck configuration was...
