The really fast movers turned out to airplanes! I always patrol at 1024x, the planes were moving like blurs! I was hanging around the chart screen and selected the target. Then I slowed down to 1x time and hit the I key. The crew said the target was an aircraft! All my career losses have been to aircraft!

Thanks!

You can try and outsmart aircraft on the surface long enough so that they don't scratch your hull and your brave crew can shoot off there wings!

I usually do this and it helps nwith evoiding the planes:

-Do radical corse changes (75+°) when the plane starts getting close to 1k or 500m

-I always patrol at full speed so when the plane is at the same ~1km I speed up to flank speed

I don't like taking the chance myself, plus in real life diving was recommended

But to each their own !

KptLeunant, in reality aircrafts were the nightmare of a u-boat instead of a fierce escort. Back in the WWII most of the brave u-boat skippers were killed by aircrafts which ended their careers rapidly.
