Default New to SH5; what mods should I use?

Hi everyone,

I used to play SH3 (with GWX, ofcourse) with a passion when I was younger. After years of not playing Silent Hunter, I got SH5 from Steam today.

Coming from GWX, I don't feel like playing SH5 vanilla, obviously. What are some go-to mods? I'm looking for an experience that is as similair to SH3 GWX as possible.
Thanks in advance, and as always: be more agressive!

for silent hunter 5 there is no mod like GWX and there is also a problem with the steam version of the game ....TDW's generic patcher doesn't support steam version of the game.....

as Sjizzle says, there are a few good Mega Mods out there, but I didn't really use them (my computer was not the best before I upgraded it)

If your not going to use a Mega then I highly recommend the following:
Mighty Fine Crew Mod- makes the crew actually "work" and has options to change how they look etc (beards for example)
Open Horizons II- great mod that extends the campaign and adds some new missions etc. (it does more than that, but it's late here )
IRAI- Ship AI mod that makes the friendly and enemy ships behave more realistically.

I could name more, but those are some good ones to get started with. Basically just cruise the Downloads section, and see what takes your fancy. There are some very talented people making mods these days.

Happy Sailing, and Good Hunting!

Hi all,
Interesting post. The question could be, what mods do you recommend to play with the STEAM version?

Hi Wintahs

The problem you have with Steam is you cannot use the essential TDW's Generic File Patcher that fixes the bugged game.
There is a workaround that can be used.
You can use any mods with Steam in fact, you could look at any of the mega mods and base your own mod list on them but, you are likely to spend more time trying to fix your game than actually playing it.
I would seriously suggest buying a dvd version of the game whenever possible as what you pay for you then actually own it.
If you then add the Wolves Of Steel mega mod then in my opinion you can have the ultimate SH5 experience.
