Well, I'm just going to say that I keep my positive attitude and await the game with interest and hope for a good outcome, which I'm sure I will appriciate as a good improvement over SH3 (and partly also SH4).
Because what I see in the new shots and in the video is quite fine.

BTW,

Quote:
Environment improvements
- Ships, buildings, terrain, vegetation and precipitations change depending on season
[...]
- Harbors mimic real harbors in shape
Can't wait to see what the SH5 guys are going to come up with !

Wow!
If there is as much improvement in How Things Work as there is in How Things Look, SHV is going to be some ride.

That bow on shot of the surface ship getting closer scared the heck out of me.
I tryed jumping out of my chair. Whew!

My computer is definately going to need an upgrade prior to installation.

As BDU says in SHIII:
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, UBI !

Check out Gato76's post that Takeda just closed. It has a link for a high resolution movie download. actually here it is: http://ve3d.ign.com/videos/59297/PC/...ration-Trailer. I've just downloaded the 1280x720 one. Looks amazing.

The rooftop of the lighthouse during the rain looks wet. A "Wet" shader would be nice at the waterline of ships, overall in rain and on the sub after it surfaces.
The dynamic shadows on ships look very well but on one ship you can still see shadows under the water as it's sinking.
Since the sub has foamy water near it , the sinking ships should make a lot foam too, the water looks too shiny and perfect near them. Actually I can't see any foam near passing ships AND static ships and it's necessary to create the illusion of disturbed water near the hull. Otherwise it feels as if the water doesn't care one bit and goes straight through the hulls, breaking the illusion.
Explosions alter the overall lighting in the scene but don't alter the shadows at all. It would be cool if explosions and fire would also create light shafts. It would make looking at burning ships at night cool.
Sun Light shafts (i mean volumetric shadows) get very diffused at dusk and sunrise. I know because I need to drive with the sun in my eye for 2-3 hours every friday morning. In the game they're well defined but they should completely dissapear if you have ANY direct eye contact with the sun at those hours.

PS: I'm a Virgo otherwise I wouldnt have been able to see these issues while also picking my jaw on the floor

Interior and exterior High Dynamic Range lighting.
Extensive color correction filters are applied for atmosphere tuning.
This is going to make SH5 look so good .

I'm not impressed with the graphics engine demo. It looks like they put a lot of bloom and HDR on the old SH4 engine. The water looks exactly like SH4, too (competely unrealistic).

[rant] I know what, let's have them shut down all the modification capabilities and pump out exactly what they want, then we can be reassured that this simulator sucks. [/rant]
