Nope, a bunch of paying customers who were given an incomplete game, followed by a month of total silence, followed by weeks of waiting after the promise of a patch, followed by a week of waiting after the first broken promise, followed by a second broken promise and an iffy "maybe another week, we don't know" posted only to the German forums combined with an utter lack of communication throughout the entire process.

It is pretty sad and it's entirely Ubisoft's fault.

The trolls seem to have made it their mission to bitch at everything Ubi does, no matter what it is. They released SH5 too early, and got slammed. Now they're delaying stuff to get them done right... and what do you know, they get bitched at for that, too.

Ignore list is your friend, people.

Not hearing too much from the Ubi and dev cheerleaders now, huh....
No one likes to be moved down on the priorities list. Avalon Hill is pulling the same stuff with their Axis&Allies franchise. Latest instalment cost a fortune and had several significant flaws (to their credit, though, they were kind enough to ship me more playing pieces and corrected documentation free of charge). After the earlier A&A games, that was a slap in the face.

The SH series is the same. I like SH5, but I've not been playing it for a while, in part because it's nowhere as engaging and atmospheric as SHIII. I do have high hopes for it, but at the same time I feel the frustration at not being centre of attention anymore.

I just hope the market swings back to simulation soon. The Modern Warfare era is getting tiring.

the longer they take, the more time they will have to address serious issues. i'd rather have a few major patches in a few months than many minor ones over the course of a year. every thing will turn out fine and all of the nerd rage we see will be for naught, as usual.

I think Ubi developers are afraid of you guys (DRM, bugs). No one wants to be the messenger bringing bad news. Who can blame them for being a little reluctant to post here. A shame the game was released prematurely but let's be hopeful the patch is a major fix.

Thankfully you don't have to type in 486 Megs worth of patch these days.
I do remember typing some pokes myself but it was rather the exception, not the rule. Softwares from first party publishers were almost glitch free.

Can you imagine what would happen in the cartridge era (mask ROM, not flash) if some serious flaw was allowed to slip past QA?

Meh there would be probably a dozen threads before they even had a chance to get here.

I hope their taking time to get it right.

Oh btw welcome to subsim

I was never big on conspiracy theories, but I can just imagine it now; beta-testers report on a multitude of bugs, devs ask for more time to fix them, the Big Boss says screw it, time is money, ship it out anyways.
No wonder people are upset.
Hardware Technology is progressing so fast, Software Publishers appear to be struggling to keep pace with the technology. Over the years, I've noticed software release quality has been compromised as Alpha, Beta, Release criteria standards seem to be diminishing for the sake of Marketing. Project Manager's, working with DEV team initially set big bold goals with huge feature lists. As the projected release dates draw closer and closer, Feature start getting cut because Marketing starts hounding the PM to stay fast to their projected dates. A inexperienced PM will fall victim to Marketing and allow, what would normally be fixed issue's to roll out(We have to release on schedule, we already have "x" number of pre-ordered copies sold...).
I watched on the news and read articles on XP when it released, a good OS. Shipped with some where about 60,000+ known issue's. That is why it is still being patched today. Personally, I like XP, more so then Vista and with issue's I have read about in these forums alone, I am afraid to try 7.
Can't really say more without getting all fired up and getting myself into trouble.

Just wait until the patch is released and people say it hasn't been done right because such and such *still* hasn't been fixed and why did they delay for this POS, when they couldn't even fix 'bug x', which some modder already fixed and they'll never buy another Ubi product again and... No, that couldn't happen could it?

Or you could just go do something else and realize that the patch will be out when it's out. Why does everything have to be this ideological crap storm? Every perceived slight from Ubisoft brings the wanna-be Ralph Nader, David Horowitz consumer crusaders out of the woodwork. It's a COMPUTER GAME.

They're not going to scrap the work they've already done. Every extra day that the patch takes means its that much better. I'd personally be happy if they waited another 6 months to release it.
