Well, I'd say together we're doing a reasonable job of keeping this lot informed. And we use different sources, so you get a more complete picture.

Maybe it's dropped frames in the video instead of FPS drops, maybe to keep video in sync with audio.

I hear ya on PS3... as far as I'm concerned, it's the more capable of the 2 (360 vs ps3). But it's more difficult to develop for, and Xbox is prety close to PC. In the end it's easier to make it for 360, do a relatively easy port to PC and then a more costly one to PS3. As a result, the PC version suffers in the performance (unoptimized) and the PS3 is missing stuff that would take too much effort to port, sometimes worse performance as well. Not always the case, but seems the general trend.

Which is annoying when developers say(especially 2k on Mafia 2) that they put just as much work into each one. I am just glad that more developers are starting to use the Ps3 for their main development(thanks to Sony releasing better tools to work with)

As a side note, one of the most irritating things about the 360 is the fact that Halo:Reach is the most anticipated game of 2010. I saw a comment on a Mafia 2 article in which someone said that Mafia 2 will be generic mainstream crap, and people shouldn't buy it or they'll encourage developers to make more. The very next line said that people should buy Halo:Reach instead. I almost died from the irony.

Yeah, it seems the gene pool is shrinking.

It's more like a gene kiddy pool nowadays.
