main problem with sh5 or sh4 water for sh3 is, the missing shaders and shapes. the engine from sh4 and sh5 works different. so a transparent water for sh3 is impossible.
![]() but there are many mods for sh3, which made the water quite nice!

For some reason the 20km water mod is not as "good" as the 16km. Probably some tricks to it. The 16km mod is pleasant to the eyes for me anyway.

For me Manos v1.1 is still the best eye candy in SH3 ever, i tried RIK007 and it looked.. bad :s but this is my opinion. Manos almost looks real, the color palete is much better in my opinion and the skyes also.
Just my two cents ![]() |

Well...not sure of Manos 1.1, I do use MEPv3. But when I changed water mods to this new one, everything changed for the better in MY opinion. Did you see all the "goodies" that this mod offers? The Med, Arctic and default Atlantic schemes that comes with this package? I use the 16km version. Personally, the sky colors coincide with water pretty darn well. I just got back from a patrol in 15m/s winds...and if I stare at the screen long enough I swear I'll get sea-sick. The speed of the waves is slower, or better yet... physically more correct. The rolling waves seems more apt than the other water versions I've seen. However, I do add the 3D Waves mod on top of the new water mod which, to me, adds a little more to the effect. Watching my boat cut through those waves and falling into the wells at the proper water speed really looks real to me. Watching the bow of the boat kinda hang in the air for a moment then slowly drop down into the crashing waves looks very real to me.
Anyway... one needs to try all the envs of this mod in all weather conditions to get the feel of it. I really do like this mod. ![]() |

Sobers 3D Waves.
It is in the download section. Load this via JGSME after loading the water mods. This adds a "green tinge" to the white caps in rougher weather. Very realistic in my opinion. A few other suggestions to go along with is: The Water Stream & Exhaust by Kombimod v2.3, Atlantic Howling Wind sound mod (I only use this mod if I am going way North). Like I've said...Rik007's mod needs to be explored with all his options and weather in the package. The Arctic water is good to use in winter/spring months in the northern Atlantic with Howling wind. I will admit to one little cheat: I did edit the files to lessen the wave height at 13-15m/s winds so the swells would stop going over the conning and "drowning" my crew. I always hated that. The new setting seem more appropriate...Can't remember what I did, but the edit instructions are in this forum somewhere..... |

Rik's mod is fantastic, but if I might do two minor suggestions for improvement, then those would be:
1) Use a curved earth, so we can see ships sink in the horizon. 2) Fine tune the horizon fog colour. Right now there is always a faint phosphorescent line in pale blue that results a bit annoying in its contrast with the excellent dark ocean and sky ![]()

I may have some very good news for you as I'm working on SH5 Water for SH3 ULTIMATE. To be released rather sooner than later.
