I have to disagree.
While it would be in our interest to for the Modders to have access to this file it is the property of UBIsoft. You nor I are in no position nor have the right to demand this property from them.
You can always ask nicely though.
I doubt very much Ubi will just hand out the code for SHIII... or any of it's games. You might buy it tho if yer wallet is big enough.

Never demand anything.... it could bite you.
Other game companies have done it for free, why not Ubi?

I think SH3 is the one for me for a while yet. I've just discovered that if you change to german in the options menu you get cool cheering when ya sink a ship and those morse code sounds when ya receive a message. I also discovered that if you change the keyboard to french by mistake and press the M key to see the message you end up diving. I didn't know what the hell was going on

Source Development Kit. Its that neat little package that lets you do to the game what the devs did. Imagine what GWX would be with THAT!

I'm a loooong way from having exhausted the challenges of SHIII and have little interest in PTO. Where we should encourage Ubi is to come out with a wolfpack version of SH III, which would incorporate GWX. by the time this SHIIIB comes out, there will be lots of SHIV people ready to return to the Atlantic, thus it would be good business for UBI to start working on SHIIIB (Notice, I'm not a Ubi basher. Ubi has done great stuff. Without them there would be no SHIII or GWX, or us.

SDK = Software Development (or Developer's) Kit.
The simple definition is that it's the tools used by the original developers in making the game. You've probably seen references in other posts to people saying something cannot be changed in the game because it is "hard coded", this would enable modders to change those things.

EDIT: See P Funk beat me to it.

Good games with a strong community don't die easy... Yesterday I downloaded the 1.01 patch for FFUR/SLX 2007 mod for Operation Flashpoint. Falcon 4.0 is still alive besides Falcon 4 AF. IL2 still flies after 5 years. If you have a look at SimHQ, you will see people still releasing updates and mods for European Air War, F22 Total Air War or even Red Baron... So until there is a new (and better) U boat sim available - which doesn't seem to be in the near future, I don't see why SH3 + supermods would disappear.

I've been to long in the atlantic to just "give it up". SHIV is a great game, dont misunderstand, but i have more "feelings" for the atlantic theatre... Oh, i wish that Ubisoft could make a "SHIII" with the graphics of SHIV (Atleast an atlantic WWII theatre...) Well, just my 0.99$....

From what I read in the SH4 forum, the graphic quality doesn't seem to be the strong point of SH4 in the moment. Most complaints come from the upscaled 1024x768 3D resolutions...

From what I've seen, SH 4 comes to me like a "SH 3 Pacific Campaign" with gimmicks I can't use anyway because my comp is not top of the quarter. I mean, they even used the same sound files, game routines, etc, that's just not enough new features for me to justify buying new hardware and playing a buggy, unmodded, unpatched game.

Cheers,
AndyW

SH3 and SH4 are in fact not in direct competition, like SH1 & AOD weren't. They provide different theatres, that's all...so gamers will either play the one they prefer or simply both. Nope, SH3 will not be abandoned until a better U-Boot game comes out, which was what killed SH2

Well to tell you the truth so long as the SH3 killer absords all of the then defunkt SH3 fans then I'll be happy cause we'll all still be there prattling on about some bollocks to do with escort sensors.

ANd I totally get what _Seth_ means. Theres this romantic attachment I have for SH3. Not much is gonna change that.

SH3 + GWX + SH3 COMMANDER + SH3 GENERATOR

These things work and look awesome. I'm not ready for a change to the unproven Pacific.
