I had the pleasure of diving on the HMS Hood in Portland harbour before it was put off bounds to divers. Before anyone starts abusing me, it was a previous HMS Hood - the Dreadnought Battleship that was deliberately sunk as a blockship in 1914: http://www.nasportsmouth.org.uk/proj...nd_map2004.php
I've also managed to get to the landing craft but haven't yet managed the M2, a submarine aircraft carrier.

You can buy a decent sidescan sonar for around £2000 these days. Nowhere near the clarity of the images above but enough to give you a general shape of a contact.
