See the Royal Oak
I don't know if others have seen this or not: images of the Royal Oak at the bottom of Scapa Flow. These come from ADUS, a sonar imaging company.

That's very impressive.
Thanks for sharing, and welcome aboard! |
I agree, that image is extremely impressive.
Believe it or not, I met my wife in a pub called Royal Oak :D |
Just like a Ghost Ship!
|
Yeah, there are few ships depicted like that due to the advances in sonar imagery equipment http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...s/thumbsup.gif

This has an eerie beauty to it! Thanx for the pic!

Beutifull work...thanks! :)

I had the pleasure of diving on the HMS Hood in Portland harbour before it was put off bounds to divers. Before anyone starts abusing me, it was a previous HMS Hood - the Dreadnought Battleship that was deliberately sunk as a blockship in 1914: http://www.nasportsmouth.org.uk/proj...nd_map2004.php
I've also managed to get to the landing craft but haven't yet managed the M2, a submarine aircraft carrier. |
Just a minor correction:

Here's a pretty good link about the HMS Royal Oak:

Yikes! This is what sonar can do these days? Makes me wonder how vulnerable subs are today :hmm:
|
You can buy a decent sidescan sonar for around £2000 these days. Nowhere near the clarity of the images above but enough to give you a general shape of a contact.
