That graphics card is not enough. SHIV has normal system requirements today but i remember it was system-hungry when it was released.
You need at least a X16** or 8*** card, with 256 MB or more. CPU gets a bit short for this game, and RAM certainly is not enough, especially if its DDR1. ![]() |

Ok, ordered 2 gigs of memory today, and am looking at 512MB cards. Thinking about an ATI 1650 - any cards I should stay away from?

I am running a 1650 currently - its a decent cheap card nowadays. Will play most games on medium detail - SH4 near max as long as you dont set the resolution too high.
Depends on your budget - check pricewatch.com if your in the USA. Newegg and TigerDirect are good sources. If your looking to spend under $50 your limited - but $100 gets you a good solid card with growth room. The 1650 doesnt have much of that anymore. Suggest a mod may want to move this to the tech forum.

The ancient one runs the game just fine with one GB of RAM and a 8800GT. Disabling all the bloatware XP runs reduced the XP footprint to 160 MB and allowed me get along on 1GB.

Well, if this is any consolation, I can run SH IV + UBM with RFB + RSRDC just fine with: Processor : AMD Athlon 64 2800+ @ 1800 MHz Physical Memory : 1024 MB (2 x 512 DDR-SDRAM ) Video Card : Nvidia Corp GeForce 7300 GT With very low settings, but then I am not into eyecandy that much. :p Had ATI Radeon 128 MB Graphics Card..decided to get GeForce 7300 GT, both affordable and compatible with the rig just to run SH IV. ![]() |

Ok, memory arrived today - now have 2.6 gig of RAM, and can play the game! Even with the 128 MB card (new 512 will be here soon!). Things are a bit choppy, but I'm sure the new graphics card will solve that.
Now, to get the controls down pat..... |

![]() ![]() Current game year: Late 1942 early 1943: Specs: AMD 5600+ dual core. 8 Gig ram 8800 GS w/320 ram WinXP 64 drowning in up to date current drivers. Game did great for a long time then it hit a CTD wall. Was SHIII with the Pacific mod stable? Perhaps I will try that one. ![]()
