Installing Fallout 3 right now. DVD is 5.51 GB or so. Probably means it unpacks to 8 to 10 GB.

Not even true, if you look at FarCry2`s requirements. I read somewhere that a 2,6 ghz dual core was minimum, and I run it pretty much maxed out on a "old" 2,4 ghz dual core.

That is true. Supposed to be less req than Crysis, so if your rig ran Crysis, Far Cry 2 should be no problem. You have to remember they designed it with consoles in mind so they won't up the graphics into something killer for a system.

If you analyze XBox 360 titles vs its PC counterparts for example, the XBox will have terrible resolution to distant objects, especially characters. PC's have no such limitation. This is why I hate console ports - they dumb down the graphics.

So if a proggy is designed with consoles in mind from the start, then you will get a decent running PC version on lesser hardware.

PS. An example of what I'm talking about:

Quote:
Crytek has confirmed that a 360 version of Crysis is in development. It should be noted, however, that the game will not be a port of the PC version, but rather an entirely new game built from the ground up. The reasoning for this decision, according to the devs, is that the PC game simply couldn't run on an Xbox 360. Given that the title uses many of the advanced features of DirectX 10 (the 360 uses DirectX 9), this isn't too surprising -- although the explanation contradicts earlier statements from the developers. The game will reportedly share many elements with its PC counterpart, but contain entirely different graphics and gameplay.

Hey, what are you doing here?:rotfl:Let us know what Fallout is like, damnit.

I read the pc version is way better looking than the consoles, but I guess that is also some kind of a port? Some of the videos I have seen looked okay, but I dont know which version of the game I was looking at.

dont be dismayed Rider. I too have a single core AMD 64fx, with an ATI 2600, 2 gig RAM. and I can still play all of the new games. Though I usually wait untill price drops and reviews start to come in. my comp is slightly ****ty compared to some of my more serious gaming friends.

A single core will still get the job done. but be prepared to turn down some of the effects. Some day I WILL buy that new motherboard.

I love FC2 (16hrs and counting), FallOut 3 is tempting me, but don't think I'll bother with DS, if it really is like Doom 3, cos I couldn't stand that sh!t excuse for a game. lol. Though the game I'm really, rreally looking forward to is E:TW. Bring on Feb!!!!!!!!!!!

Fallout 3 - finally a decent RPG FPS game! I feel like I am playing the original Fallout from a FPS perspective. The world is huge. The detail immense. The dialog extreme. Stay tuned since I will have more to say later.

Fallout 3 annoyance #1 - crashes occasionally. Crashed 3 times now.
