I was walking/driving by when I heard a something and saw the (window broken, door open, whatever)

As I walked up to investigate, the guy must have heard me and almost knocked me over running, out.
I went in to see if anyone was hurt, and she pulled the gun on me.

Also, the guy was black.

Now we have a case

A slicky lawyer could pull that off.

Translation of a German film title. I even have not seen the film. The title reminded me of that famous James Dean quote.
