OK the games works and update fine but when i get ready to do the tutorials it will load but when it gets to the screen that says please wait Windows Vista pops up a message saying silent hunter 4 has stop responding and it trys to search for a solution. I have tried to reinstall the game with no success. I have tried running it as administrator. I wanna do the tutorials bc i have not played any other Sh's and i really dont know what im doing

Like I say Im not sure of the particulars but everybody asks what you
just did and everybody answers what I just did.

this raises a fair point though.

advice for the new subsimmer.

1.read the newbie guides.
2.prior to posting a question in a new thread
always always always use the forum search
first. almost every question has already been
asked dozens of times. if you dont find it then
post it.
3.let modders mod. read all the readme's in a mod.
it will save you taking up the modders next five
weeks with questions they answered prior to release.

that at least will do for a start.
again welcome aboard
M

Welcome Josh!

Mush is smart, he makes a good point.
That being said, Vista sucks and good luck with sh4.

If it still doesn't work, please post your system specs and describe all the background programs and/ autoupdaters you have running. Lots of computer-genius types here who are friendly and willing to help, I know.

And if the site search doesn't find it, try using Google's "search this site". It does a good job, too.

And welcome aboard

Hi:

Which Vista edition do you have ? 32? or 64?

If 64: then you need to have it installed in the Program x86 directory.

You don't need to run as administrator.

You don't need any compatibility mode.

Video card drivers and Direct X are current ...right?

You do need enough memory. I wouldn't want to try with less than 4Gb but you might get by with 2. When the sims stops running open and check Task Manger to see if you are out of or very low on memory. chances are good that you are.

I just doesn't make sense that you can run anything but the tutorials...they are just "special" single missions. If you can run any single mission then the tutorials (Tutorials= SUB School..Right?) should run.

What mods have you installed? Any problem I have ever had with Vista/SH4 was mod related. Jerk the offending mod and SH4 goes back to running fine and dandy.

If you have 32 bit Vista then I don't know what to tell you. I never saw the point in 32 Vista...might as well have stayed with old XP.

Good luck!

When you install the game, make sure you let SH4 install direct X 9. Vista runs DX10 but the game needs to install DX 9 so it can work.

No need to check on the DX10, you can have both installed at the same time. As long as you have installed DX9, you should be OK in that department.
