Default HMS Rodney sunk!

Feb 1940, SW of the Hebrides

Convoy Sighted, heading SE, Loads of Merchants (apporox 20+), and two Warships: HMS Rodney and a Black Swan Frigate.

Wait... one escort... one escort! And HMS Rodney!

Screw the Mechants, to periscope depth! Ahead flank!

Launched a salvo of four torpedoes, set to 7m, fast... Torpedo Los!

One eel exploded prematurely but three confirmed hits.

Took approx. 30 min to sink! Heard my one of my officers confirm the kill.

Sorry for no screenshots, 15 kt winds and the single escort prevented me to do so!

During that patrol warship tonnage exceeded merchant tonnage.
(55366 total (19366 merchant /36000 HMS Rodney)

Keep racking up the tonnage!

Nice work! It's always nice to be able to get more warship tonnage than merchant, especialy when it's a battleship or carrier bumping up the tonage!

Yup!

I had a hard time finding loners I just stumbled along this convoy expecting regular cargo ships and tankers but never a battleship. Such a sight!

BTW, how much renown is the Rodney worth? And is there a list of ships with corresponding Renown?:hmm:

I can't remember the renown, but it is sweet. Keep up the good work, Kaleun. Free drinks when you come home.

Hehe it also brings me memory, the first day i was trying gwx(clean). I went and face with a task force. Guess what, spotting hms hood, nelson, nelson's sister, rodney and a carrier with some ship which looks like hms warspite. I sank HMS hood, nelson, nelson's sister and the carrier. Got no more torpedo so i was forced to abandon my hunt! But yet i was playing at easy mod! And it cannot face what riflemans has done with realist mod!

Congrats rifleman! Funny you brought this up. I was on my 2nd patrol on 05 SEP 39, in sector BF39 after actually sinking a Brit tanker in my ordered patrol area. I get a contact report from OKM about a convoy due north of my last known position so I set course and caught up with the slow convoy. I took a peek when I got to within 3000 meters of the outside merchant and two ships in was Rodney at 7 knots. Set a salvo of 4 bow torps for almost a 90 degree shot with a two degree spread and 12 meter depth, mag pistole. 3 hits and battleship sunk. 40 minutes of DCing later, I'm trailing the convoy again with night fall coming soon. A large tanker and 2 large dry ships are my next potential victims.....what a game!

Yes, and you've bragged about it so many times I've lost count too!

The closest I've come to a big battleship is a long (5 km) parting shot at a bad angle as it sped by with its escorts. I did recently SEE a big battleship AND a carrier, but alas, they were far too fast for me. So great job on bagging one, for most of us, it's quite an accomplishment!

Grats on your Rodney sinking Herr Kaluen!!

But as the years pass and you play longer you will find the Rodney is like a cheap whore.. everybody has had a turn! Kaluens have actually sunk her 2 times in the same patrol. :rotfl:

Oh BTW...
I posted a somewhat complete list of renown values awhile ago. It was for 2.0 but I think the values are still close to the same. You might be able to find it via search engine.

Here it is http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...=renown+values

Hey thanks!

2 times, you took out both Nelson and Rodney! Excellent!

About the renown values, I going to search for it. Darn, keep forgetting there was a search function!

Just keep raking up the tonnage!
