I periodically save, and yea it sometimes screws up the weather, but in a case like this if i had saved 6 game hours previous.. i can usually reload and find the task force again if something goes wrong.
The savegame bug has bit me enough (as did the dreaded ASW trawler CTD in Gibraltar the other day), that i now save frequently. Tool.
