Default Torps breaching surface

Does it affect the performance of a shallow running torp when it breaches the surface in heavy seas? It's funny to see the torp leaping like a dolphin, but realistically, I imagine that would alter its performance. In-game, is there a significant change in performance that I need to worry about, or is it trivial? Early way, I like running my torps impact at 2M. Thanks for any advice.
