Not Spanish...

Kaluens,

Was at girlfriends house the other night so started a career on my laptop in 44 , with a XXI. 1st patrol in tanker alley I run into a 8 DD screened convoy packed with big stuff and this... the 1st time I have seen a liner this big that wasnt flying a spanish flag!! Think it was the HMT Antiquania? Cant remember the exact name so ubers speak up pls! Believe it or not I shot 8 eels at this thing 7 missed (hah who says the TDC guys is a little too accurate!) the only hit was in the bow and she sunk... complete blind luck I guess. Anyways she was a stunning 56k+ tons! The most tonnage I have seen yet on one ship! :hmm:

Nice! If I recall correctly it is the Antiquania.
2 of those will get you the 100k ton patrol easily!
I bet your girlfriend was a bit upset when you came over and started playing sh3. lol.

You mean this convoy? Found it too, also in a XXI, decided I was going to bag me that 4 stacker

But....
Fired a nice spread of eels at it and this is what happens when you set the pattern runners incorrectly.

out of the full 6-eel spread I kileld one escort and one old tanker for a measly 3000 tons total

Oh yes, that wasn't a lot of fun,
despite that little setback I managed to sink 78k GRT that patrol and make it to Bordeaux in one piece -ish.
But I had to leave real quickly again because the Allies were approaching with tanks and stuff it being august of 1944

Next time I won't take pattern runners at all, too much hassle

I made it through Biscay Bay again thanks to the weather and am now west of Ireland having just dodged a Hunter Killer group with 2 escort carriers.

I figure about 100km behind a Hunter/killer group is a good place to be for a Uboat

ROFL!
I don´t know why but seeing those two pics in sequence made me laugh a lot!
How frustrating that should have been! Seeing your eels turning away from your target just a couple of seconds before!
I´m sorry Kaleun, I don´t mean to disrespect you, but I couldn´t help but laugh...
Better luck next time!

No Worries Mate

I've sunk plenty of those 4 stackers in the Med, 3 in the same career and 2 in one patrol even, in addition to other passenger liners, That Kaleun would definitely have been tried for war crimes if he had survived a total of 8 passenger liners sunk in one career lasting 8 months is bad for one's reputation

those misses are also a good lesson about getting careless with new technology
