I use Sh3gen when i reach my patrol area. Many mission is about checking harbors out. I will say that Loch Ewe for me was the killer, no chance that I ever will get into that harbor nothing of value as far as I could see. In the start of the war Calais have a english and a French modern tanker there at least those times I happen to come past. Well I enjoy deep waters now:hmm: Since there are sooo many convoys out there that are ready for a quick hit and run and you are ready for a deep silent run. I have been in harbors with less than 7 metre off water not funny at all

You need to check out Gibraltar in April 1940. You can run below the layer (160m or deeper) to the Rock of Gibraltar then creep into the harbour area. HMS Nelson (33k tons) and a small depot ship (6500 tons) on the north western side and three Southampton/London class (10-13k tons each) on the north eastern side along with three static destroyers. In the harbour itself there's another Southampton class plus a troop transporter, modern tanker, large and medium cargo and a few other small ships. Watch out for torpedo nets on the northern side of the harbour - I took a lot of damage when I hit one net and broke the surface for a few seconds as those capital ships have a shedload of firepower (but can't traverse very quickly). Torpedo nets in general seem to finish about 2 submarine widths from the harbour walls in any port, so I sneak in by running very close to the harbour walls.
The only things protecting Gib are the static surface ship's guns and 2 or 3 ASW trawlers and Isles class, all of which seem to be either blind and deaf or just stupid. Ran out of internals in the IXB and have had to extract to reload externals and go back in. If the protection is as dopey as it was last time, I'll easily clear 100k tons and get away with my boat intact.

@ Brag, I think you have done your fair share!! The best ever raid so far was Valletta!
@ Kaleu. Jochen Mohr, some training grounds, I mentioned going there with a bottle of rum, not a case!
@ Nightshadow, I actually got through Loch Ewe during the night, the boat sort of jumps over the nets with very little damage, I was hoping the task force would be there but no such luck!
@ Wreford-Brown, I'll have to give Gibraltar a go, I assumed invading that port would be pure suicide!

I have been in and out of Scapa and Loch Ewe so many times it is like a walk in the park anymore. Using Type VII or Type IX.
I have been in and out of Dunkirk several times...but always with a II.
I have been in and out of Reykjavik several times. Type VII.
I have been in and out of Most Eastern US ports several times...always Type IX.
I have been in and out of most South American harbors...again Type IX.
Never made it inside Tobruk or Alexandria.
Made it in Valletta - never made it out.
Made it in and out of Gibraltar...Type VII.

My favorite used to be Loch Ewe...particularly during 1940.
Now, I like to pop into Scapa whenever possible...always a good place for a kill.

BE MORE AGGRESSIVE!
