Take it from me; initially I was not all that bothered by being made redundant from my job as a draughtsman back at the end of october last year. I had more pressing issues at home with my other half in hospital for surgery. It was only after she'd got better (after about 6-8 weeks) and I had a chance to think about what happened, that a kind of weight settled on me. It's a real boot to the stomach and despite my skills and intelligence, it has made me question my ability to find other work. When it comes right down to it, unless you work for yourself, you cannot trust anyone to keep your job safe or regard your work as praiseworthy, especially when the new managing director has been brought in to make the company more profitable. As we all know the best way to make a company achieve this is to get rid the lowest paid workers ![]() Fortunately I've not had any money problems yet - redundancy pay has set me ok for a while - but this won't last for ever.
